Born Catherine Jane "CJ" Brankov in 1983, Catherine had a happy childhood in Huntington Beach, California. In 1990 her family relocated north to the Santa Ynez Valley, where she attended elementary and high school, held an after-school job in Solvang, and discovered a love for drawing and painting. By graduation she had won several awards, including first place in the high school division of Fine Art Santa Barbara, first place in the Individual Grants Competition from the Santa Maria Arts Council, and the Artists Guild of the Santa Ynez Valley scholarship.

In 2001 she moved to Los Angeles and attended Otis College of Art and Design. While majoring in Digital Media with a focus on motion graphics, she worked a summer internship for NGTV in Beverly Hills and later interned for Hornet Animation in Los Angeles. In 2006 she was hired by Create Advertising Group in Culver City, providing support for a young and small graphics department that would grow to be one of the strongest in the business of theatrical trailers.

In January 2012 she married radar and software engineer John Gaynor. In April of 2012, after six good years with Create Advertising Group, Catherine resigned to pursue a career in freelance motion graphics. This move allowed her to expand beyond the world of movie trailers and enjoy some time doing broadcast design, tradeshow graphics and sizzle reels.

Catherine took an extended maternity leave to give birth to two beautiful children and raise them through infancy. Plans to relaunch her career in 2020 were put on hold due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Finally in Summer of 2021, Catherine happily returned to her work. In addition to motion graphics she has done title localization for the worlwide distrubution of several major films, cinegrams for social media, and photo correction for print media.
